The venerable auction house Christies has announced their annual Art+Tech Summit, to be held at Rockefeller Center in New York, July 17-18, 2024. This two-day summit brings together the top names in the fields of art and technology to discuss the role that emerging web3 technologies have on trends in the art world.

This year's edition is placing special emphasis on ongoing currents in technology and the different types of interactions that exist between these trends and the worlds of art and luxury. Christie’s has invited speakers and presenters across multiple areas for lectures and panel discussions. Confirmed names include: Refik Anadol, Beeple, Marc Glimcher (Pace Gallery), Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple Computers) and others.

Christie’s was the first auction house to accept online bidding for artworks and artifacts in 2006, and the first to hold online-exclusive auctions five years later. In September 2022, Christie’s announced the development of Christie’s 3.0, a fully on-chain platform that hosts curated NFT sales. In line with its entrepreneurial traditions, Christie’s works to expand the limits of auctioning practices, implementing innovative technologies such as multi-site auction live-streaming and augmented reality tools.

The Art+Tech Summit was launched by Christie’s in 2018 as an extension of its initiative to foster debate about the intersection of digital technologies and art, and the impact it has on the cultural landscape. The Summit is a ticketed event. More information can be found at Christie’s site.
