Frieze Seoul returns this September for its third edition with an expansive program that includes performance, films and talks. Frieze Film also returns to Seoul with a program dedicated to time-based media, arranged under the title All that Weaves the Universe: Of Quantum Entanglements’. This edition of Frieze Film will be jointly presented with outdoor media arts festival EMAP (Ewha Media Art Presentation).

Frieze Film will feature over 20 international artists, including Ana Mendieta, Alison Nguyen, Simon Speiser, Yuyan Wang, Clemens von Wedemeyer, Zheng Bo and Zhang Xu Zhan. Each of these artists reflects upon the interconnectedness that exists between the human and the non-human, creating a tapestry that relies on ancient weaving techniques and modern quantum physics to outline the issues that humanity must face with the increasing integration of AI into all aspects of society. The program is curated by Joowon Park (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) and Valentine Umansky (Tate Modern).

Frieze Seoul 2024 will be held concurrently with KIAF 2024 (Korean International Art Fair) at COEX Center in Gangnam District in Seoul. A series of talks addressing some of the pressing issues affecting the art world today, such as the power of biennials, feminism in Asian art and the evolving role of curators in galleries will be discussed by a host of eminent speakers from some of the art galleries and institutions participating in the biennial. The fair is open from September 4-7, 2024.

EMAP is a media art exhibition that has collaborated with Gwangju Biennale, Busan Biennale and Seoul Media Art Biennale. It was established in 2001 and is organized by Ewha Womans University in Seoul. Frieze Film will be presented in the historic gardens of the University from September 2-6, 2024. Audiences can view the program remotely through the Frieze site.
