Diriyah Art Futures Mazra’ah Media Arts residency is specifically designed to support the evolution of new creative practice within the dynamic realms of New Media and Digital Art, and work at the intersection of art, science and technology.
Our programme focuses on nurturing concepts and ideas that originate from or relate to the MENA region and the Global Majority, fostering a unique artistic dialogue.
Programme features
Artists are invited to apply through a carefully curated open call process, with applications reviewed by an esteemed jury panel of regional and international experts.
Each year, four artists will be selected to participate in a three-month residency. During this time, they will be immersed in the vibrant cultural and artistic environment of the Diriyah Art Futures studios and labs.
What we offer
- Residents are provided with a production budget and comprehensive support, covering all stages from conceptualisation to execution.
- The residency culminates in showcasing the artists’ work and offering them a platform for wider recognition and engagement.
- Artists live and work at the DAF centre, a space conducive to creativity and innovation, nestled in Diriyah’s historical and cultural landscape.
Our expectation

OPEN CALL:
The 2025 residency theme, High-Resolution Dreams of Sand, celebrates DAF as a beacon of critical, creative and scholarly development, amplifying regional perspectives in New Media and Digital Art. The theme encourages participants to produce work that engages with the context of DAF’s physical location adjacent to Diriyah’s farms and interrogates the bridge between history and the future, inviting reflections on our human relationship with nature and technology. Residency proposals should resonate with contemporary issues, regional interests and global narratives, especially those emerging from the MENA region and the Global Majority.
For more information and before applying, read the Mazra’ah Media Art Residency information sheet. The submission deadline is January 20, 2025.
