Celebrated Scottish performer, artist, and fashion icon Tilda Swinton is set to premiere six new works developed specifically for an exclusive exhibition at Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. The exhibition will showcase Swinton's dynamic collaborations and emphasize her active and influential role in the filmmaking process.

Swinton has partnered closely with acclaimed filmmakers and artists such as Luca Guadagnino, Joanna Hogg, Jim Jarmusch, Olivier Saillard, Tim Walker, and Apichatpong Weerasethakul for this unique event. Each collaboration explores profound themes, including nature, memory, ancestral connections, friendships, and the transformative spaces of the creative process. Additionally, the exhibition includes works from Swinton's ongoing collaboration with Pedro Almodóvar and presents rare archival materials from iconic filmmaker Derek Jarman, featuring previously unseen 8mm films.

The curatorial approach underscores Swinton’s significant contributions to cinema, challenging the conventional view of actors as merely passive participants in filmmaking. By spotlighting Swinton’s role in co-authorship and her extensive creative influence, the exhibition provides visitors with an intimate glimpse into her innovative artistic practices spanning the last four decades.

"Eye has given me the opportunity to reflect on the mechanics of my working practice over the past forty years," said Swinton. "By focusing on profoundly enriching creative relationships, we share the narratives and atmospheres that inspire us."

Alongside the main exhibition, Eye Filmmuseum will host an extensive series of films, discussions, and special talks. These programs aim to further illuminate Swinton’s groundbreaking career and provide deeper insights into her collaborative processes and creative philosophy.

Tilda Swinton – Ongoing opens on September 28, 2025, and runs through February 8, 2026. Tickets and additional information are available on the Eye Filmmuseum official site.
